Hi!
My name is Stephen (although most people call me Dows). I have worked in the charitable sector and Students' Unions for over ten years. Working in both the private and third sectors. I have helped train and develop hundred's of people in skills around leadership, facilitation, public speaking and campaigning.
Along with that I have spent most of my career working to improve democracy and governance in charities and membership organisations. I want to help more people be the change they want to see in the world. This is why, over 5 years ago, I created Stand & Be Counted.

For the last 5 years I have been doing what I love through Stand & Be Counted. Training and developing people.
In a previous life I was a President at the University of Teesside Students' Union, which made me the person you see today.
I love training and developing people, especially around areas such as public speaking, how to campaign effectively, how to get elected in Students' Union and how to chair/ facilitate effectively.
I am currently a Trustee for Leeds Beckett Students Union and have been working for the Sheffield Steelers (Ice Hockey Club) doing audio and PA stuff. Which I like a lot.
I am a former 'chugger', magician, shelf stacker, white liner, activist and a former defender of democracy and activism at Leeds University Union.
